Introducing gorgeous Pembe and Anthony, who held a classically elegant wedding ceremony and reception at Bramleigh Estate in March 2024.
Read on for their experience getting married at our award-winning Melbourne wedding reception venue.
When and where did you first meet?
Anthony and I first met in 2012 at school when we were in Year 9.
How long were you together before your partner popped the question?
We were together for 9 years before he proposed to me.
Tell us about the proposal! Did your partner suspect anything?
During the weekend of our nine-year anniversary, Anthony told me he had reserved a table at Ponyfish Island on the Evan Walker Bridge, but it turned out he had made that up just to get me there.
After checking into our hotel at the W Melbourne, we walked to the bridge and as we reached the middle, Anthony began to make a speech about our love. Anthony then handed me a padlock with our initials inscribed and explained that the bridge we were standing on was Melbourne’s love lock bridge.
As I went to secure the padlock onto the bridge, I turned it around and saw ‘marry me’ written on the back. After locking it and tossing the key into the water, Anthony was on one knee with my engagement ring in his hand.
I was completely taken by surprise because I had planned out the whole weekend. However, Anthony knew he had one chance to catch me off guard.
How did you feel seeing each other for the first time on your wedding day? Were you glad you waited to see one another for the first time down the aisle?
Seeing each other for the first time on our wedding day was everything we had hoped for and more. It added a layer of excitement and emotion to our ceremony, and witnessing Anthony’s expression as I walked down the aisle towards him is a memory that I’ll cherish forever.
We were so glad that we waited, as it made that moment even more special and meaningful for both of us.
Who were your favourite suppliers on the day and why?
While all our suppliers were great, the ones who stood out the most on the day were our photographer, Dawei, and videographers, Scott and Dee from Bright Light Weddings. They were incredibly passionate about their work and captured our special day perfectly.
We also want to give a big shout out to our VIP Host Mel at Bramleigh Estate. She was absolutely amazing throughout our wedding day, ensuring Anthony and I had everything we needed and that everything ran smoothly.
Our other fabulous suppliers were:
Celebrant – Events with Sarah
Florist – Bloom’d
Decor – Amica Event Hire
Cake – Cakes by Laura
Champagne Tower – Event Merchant Co
Gelato Cart – Vanilla & Co
Band – Soul House
Cars – RR Classic Car Hire
Looking back on your wedding day, what was the best part?
The best part was definitely the ceremony. It was such a meaningful and emotional moment for us, seeing each other for the first time, standing there together surrounded by our loved ones, exchanging vows, and committing to a lifetime together. It was a beautiful start to our journey as husband and wife, and we’ll cherish that moment forever.
What tip would you give to anyone planning a wedding? And also, a tip for the actual day?
For planning, start early, set a clear budget, communicate well, share responsibilities, and make time for self-care.
On your wedding day, stay present and enjoy each moment with your partner.
Assign day-of tasks to reliable people, have a backup plan for unexpected situations, and take brief moments alone together to appreciate the day’s significance.
How has married life been for you since the big day? What’s next for the future?
Married life has been wonderful since our wedding day. We’re really enjoying this new chapter and are excited to build our new home together.
